I created the sculpture, HOPE, because of my concern for the thousands
of women and children who go without life’s basic needs. I wanted to
help these families.
While working on HOPE , I decided that 10 percent of the sales price
would be donated to the FINCA organization. FINCA helps women and
their families by giving them micro-loans which enable them to own
small businesses.
I will donate 5 percent and have asked the galleries who represent me to donate 5
percent of the sales price. Every time this sculpture is purchased,
some women and their children will have the opportunity for a better
future.
The founder of FINCA, John Hatch, believed that the best way to help
children was to increase their mother’s capacity to take care of them.
FINCA (The Foundation for International Community Assistance)
established in 1984 offers loans, not gifts, to women and their
families and promotes financial independence.
The FINCA organization provides micro-loans ($50.00-$1,000.00) to the
world’s poorest families, so they can create their own jobs, raise
household income and improve their standard of living.
